How to Stay Healthy for the Holidays!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems as though the entire city of Boston is sick. People left and right are having coughing attacks, someone actually sneezed right in my face on the T the other day (yuck) and almost all of my roommates lost their voices, so the apartment’s been rather quiet needless to say. What gives? If you are one of the lucky ones who hasn’t caught the inevitable bug yet, here are some tips from CoupMe to keep you happy, healthy and high-spirited during the holidays! (Oh, and a little etiquette lesson: sneeze into your sleeve. Hasn’t your mother taught you anything?)

1. Go Crazy With Emergen-C: Seriously, I swear by this stuff. It’s like vitamins in a cup, really! Hydration is key…I can’t say it enough.

3. Lay Low: Don’t go crazy. You don’t have to be Superwoman (or Superman) 24/7. Sometimes even the most active souls need a break, so give that to yourself. If lately you’ve been going crazy with late-night deadlines, holiday shopping, crazy trips to the gym and bake-athons, it’s time to relax. You don’t want to burn yourself out. Lay low for a bit. Maybe even stay in cuddled up with Elf and some hot tea. Sounds pretty tempting, now doesn’t it?

4. …Or Sweat it Out: When you’re sick of lying low, and if you’re feeling up to it, sweat it out! Sometimes it’s good to get rid of all those toxins with some good old-fashioned sweating. Bundle up and go for a long brisk run, shovel all that snow in your driveway, or even turn your shower into a steam room. It’ll feel absolutely amazing, and clear your sinuses if you feel yourself clogging up!

5. Feed the Body Good: Don’t starve yourself when you feel a cold coming on. That’s one of the worst things you can do. Even if you don’t have much of an appetite, whip up a big bowl of chicken noodle soup or eat lots of fruit (good for antioxidants and Vitamin C). Food helps replenish the body and get you on the fast track to getting better.
